Old Images of Highbridge

John Strickland, Chairman of North Sedgemoor Local History Group, has digitised a series of photos of Highbridge from glass negatives, which belong to Mrs. Isabel Bailey (nee Channing). Mrs. Bailey has kindly given permission for the photos to be featured on the Capture Highbridge website. Whilst one or two have been seen before, John has managed to reveal amazing new detail. Images include the War Memorial, the fuel works on the River Brue, Market Street, Walrow, and Church Street. There is one image which we need your help to identify – we have our suspicions but it would be great if you can confirm them. We’ll post the images a few at a time here, before putting them on relevant pages in the site. John used the Drop-in facility at the Engine Room, Bridgwater to digitise the images. If you have photos that you would like help digitising click here to find out more.
